Haiku Big Top

Haiku Friday

Circus was in town.
Free tickets and hopeful eyes
melt a parent's will.

Soulless vendors hawk,
directly to the children.
Want your face painted?

Six dollars a child?
Lesson in cost to value.
Camel ride? No thanks!

Herded in the tent.
Free seats are far, far away.
crowded, stinking, hot.

Show starts. Small eyes wide.
Motorcycles roar to life.
Little hands grip mine.

I become entranced.
Trapeze artists, clowns and dogs.
Baby's hypnotized.

Woman comes out next.
Wearing skin and bit of cloth.
Bottom is a thong!

Climbs the rope up high.
Upside down, spreads her glory.
Toots looks horrified.

"Mom, that lady's bad!"
"Her's showing her bagina
to everybody!"

Modesty lesson.
Later ones on cheap toys and
animals in chains.

Kids had fun, it's true.
Laughed, learned, and trembled in awe.
"Can we go again?"

Mom and dad decide.
Circus is a one-time treat.
Cross it off the list!

Awesome 'ku, and funny in a scary never go there again way, I'd agree.

i'm totally with you on the one-time-only concept here.

the circus *shudder* is not what i remember as a child!

Every kid should go to the circus. Now you've gone! Of course, I love all the yummy and artery clogging food you can get at the circus.

So with you Jenni: don't want to do it. He's fine not going. I feel bad for the animals. It's just an experience we can live without. And, the bagina? Classic.

Fabulous Haiku Jenni.
We haven't taken a trip to the circus yet.
The 'Bagina' Comment is too cute.

She flashed her vajayjay to the audience??? No wonder you're not going again!

Jenni said...

She didn't actually flash us, but with the minimal clothing, and the spread eagle position, it sure looked like it!

It is for those reasons and a few more that we have never taken the kids to the circus...but, I do plan on it one day, just to "cross it off the list!".

thanks for sharing

Equally horrifying and fun... The circus is scarrrrry. Good plan to only do it once. :)

(And, dude, lay off of my NKOTB. The may be old but they still got it... sorta. LOL)

The only time I went to the circus was with a school field trip.

Huge auditorium. Full of school kids.

I ran into my brother there - 3 years older than me and in a different district.

I don't remember anything but my brother and the toy I bought. :)

You are so good at the haiku story telling!

Did you by chance go to Ringling Brothers? I think we will skip the circus and just buy the DVD's! The tickets are just too expensive for what you get....

Yup...that sums the circus experience up pretty good...free tickets? Ha! The Shriner's always phone to try to get us to donate so kids can have free tickets. They ask "Mrs B... Wouldn't you want to help send some children who otherwise could not afford to go... to the circus?" Ha! They give free tickets to just about every child then charge their parents a fortune to take them. Yeash! My mama didn't raise no fool! Ahem...sorry for the little rant here.

I'm with you! Done it, cross it off the list! I can't believe how much the circus has changed since I last went to it as a kid.

Man you're talented with the kus!

That just about sums up every circus I've ever been to. I always swear I'm never going to another one, but somehow get roped into it every stinkin' year.

The circus is definitely not what it used to be... great haikus.

Wow your haiku is simply amazing. Sounds like an experience. I've never been to the circus...at least that I remember. Possibly when I was very very young.
