Now I Feel Better

After a frustrating morning of screaming baby, I decided to go take a break on my bed and gather my thoughts (and temper).

Because my kids cannot possibly function for more than 30 seconds without my presence, I was soon surrounded.

"What's wrong, Mommy?"

"I'm just frustrated with Superboy and angry with myself for yelling at you guys. I'm just taking a break."

"Oh."

"Asker, do you think I'm a good mommy?"

"Yes, you're the best. But you do have a bad attitude sometimes."

"I know, honey. I'm trying to get better."

"Mom?"

"What, bud?"

"I already reminded you about your attitude another day. Maybe you need to write it down."

Shut up, Dave.

it's so hard to be "on" 24-7. i have to put myself in timeout sometimes too. all we can do is say we're sorry and try to do better next time. thank goodness kids are so forgiving. :)
hugs.

Oh don't be mad - but I laughed so hard!!!

Still, at least you're trying. That makes all the difference.

I think if we make mistakes and handle them well, we are teaching our kids something valuable. Although when Ironflower told me I wasn't trying hard enough the other day, I had to take a moment in the bathroom.

I'm having a hard time juggling computer time & mommy time...I can only imagine a baby in there, too. He's so sweet.

Oh, I know those times well. When you just need to disappear for 5 minutes. To have a coffee break. To regroup. To breathe.

Atleast you got some good comic relief ;)

I officially dread Alex learning to talk now.

He's already learned that I yell at him when he throws food over the high chair to the floor - today he was sticking it between his legs. I wanted to laugh, I knew I'd better not. I'm laughing now.

Next thing you know, he's going to demand a giant chalk board so he can make you do the Bart Simpson thing.

I will be a nice Mommy.

It is good to get away. Everyone needs a little "me" time during the day!

Ow. Your son is brave if your attitude does indeed tend to be bad sometimes. Mine is bad a little more often than sometimes but my kids wouldn't dare point that out to me. I've learned 'em good. Me and my bad attitude. :-) Yeah, mommys need a break sometimes, don't they? Have you ever hidden out in the bathroom?

Oh dear.. LOL
If it makes you feel better. My twin girls started preschool two weeks ago and have cried every day they have to go and for most of the session - even so, when we got there last Tuesday they told their teacher that it was 'nice to come to kinder to have a bit of a break from Mummy yelling at us' ??? oopss! :(

I've had times like that, too. Hang in there, and here's hoping the tooth comes in soon.

Yet again, I SNORTED when reading your tale!

What a great mom --- you are a great mom for knowing when to take a break. Boy, those little people sure can be trying!

I have taken to singing instructions or comments when I am about to blow...I read some where it is difficult to yell or be mad when youare singing...so that is my newest coping tool!!!!

Thanks for sharing.

I tell my girl that I've put myself in time out, and she's not allowed to talk to me. It's worked so far.

Girl, you are an awesome mom! No wonder those kids can't function 30 seconds without you! Thanks for sharing this (funny) real moment. We all have them!
